We are all packed up...

Our new store Les Froggitts is now open for business, feel free to visit us.

Latest Update.

At last all of our belongings have started their merry way from Kuwait to France, the packers took two and a half days to complete all their work and then stuffing into the shipping container.

Can't believe that it has taken so long for the last few days of our life in Kuwait to come to its finale, we're jumping on a jet plane in just 7 days time and our dogs are of course coming along with us.

You wouldn't believe the hoops you have to jump through to get the necessary permissions to export them from Kuwait, and then of course there is all the additional documentation to get them entry into France.

So here we are sitting in our empty Kuwait residence with a couple of chairs and a bed that we're leaving behind, pretty basic life it is.

The days are being counted down by the hour...

All the exercise equipment has now GONE.

All the furniture in the apartment has now GONE (into our shipping container), yep we're out of here, moving to France.

The countdown clock on the top left shows just how long we have until our new life begins...yay!

Steam powered...?

Our new store Les Froggitts is now open for business, feel free to visit us.

Hehe

Thought I was driving a steam powered car last night.

The good old Durango seems to have blown a radiator whilst I was returning home last night, looked quite funny sat at the traffic lights close to home with clouds of steam pouring out of the engine compartment.

Fortunately we didn't have far to go, managed to get the car home safely, now we wait for the recovery and estimate for repair.

Ah well, time to go hire a replacement.

Overheard in...

Our new store Les Froggitts is now open for business, feel free to visit us.

Here's one that goes to show how frustrating it can be as an expat when shopping...

Overheard in a local 'three letter-named' (no names/no lawsuits) hardware store. A presumably European lady was perusing some Air-Filtration units and was having some difficulties, she approached one of the sales guys

Customer: "I need more information on these please, I asked one other staff member who could not help me"

Sales guy: "Yes madam, how may I help?"

Customer: "What's the difference between these two machines?"

Sales guy: "That's easy madam, one is the BIG machine and the other is the SMALL machine...!!!"

At that stage I walked away fully expecting the customer to either blow up or walk away from the purchase in frustration...

Made me laugh anyway...

Educate yourself whilst feeding the poor

Our new store Les Froggitts is now open for business, feel free to visit us.

Here's something that you can try, improve your vocabulary whilst at the same time helping to feed the poor and starving around the world.

In conjuction with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), the FreeRice.com website is donating grains of rice to the WFP for every answer you get right.

Click on the banner to the left and it will take you to the quiz site.

For every answer you get correct, they will donate 10 grains of rice to the WFP, the more you answer correctly the more rice is donated.

To make it interesting to the user you will also see your level increase whenever you get three correct in a row, get one wrong and your level drops back one place. There are thousands of words in the database to work through, although it does sometime have a US english bias, it is still a challenge.

Even for native english speakers this can be rewarding, but it would certainly help with those non-native speakers wishing to improve their own knowledge.

I've managed to reach level 44 46 47 so far out of a maximum of 50, it's quite addictive so be prepared to spend some time on it to reach the upper levels.

Enjoy, you're helping others whilst taking taking gratification from your own knowledge of what is qute probably the most varied language of the world.

Lifespan of a Traffic Light post

Our new store Les Froggitts is now open for business, feel free to visit us.

If you have ever wondered just how long is the life of a Traffic Light post in Kuwait, well I think that I now have the answer...

Back in July, the 22nd to be precise, I reported on a light that had somehow been taken out, well it's been taken out again although this time from a different direction.

So the answer to the question is...........three and a half months.

LOL

This guy beats the Kuwaiti RC airplane guys hands down...

Our new store Les Froggitts is now open for business, feel free to visit us.

Out where we walk our dogs, someone has cleared an area of the scrub/desert making an impromptu landing strip for radio controlled model planes.

They're there at the crack of dawn and also at sunset (although at the moment as soon as the sun sets, there's a mad dash away).

Anyway whilst some of these guys are pretty good, I think that the guy in this video has them beaten hands down. Click on the image to go to the page...
